What is Myofascial Release?

Fascia is a connective tissue that helps support and stabilize our joints, muscles, internal organs, nerves and vessels. It is an intricate web that is vital to movement and stability for the musculoskeletal system.

In traditional therapy assessments and treatments ...

This system is typically overlooked and not addressed.

When we have an injury, the body automatically compensates by tightening the connective tissues and muscles that stabilize our joints. Many times when healing from these injuries, movement compensations and joint restrictions occur. This can be due to adhesions and lack of fascial mobility.

Imagine a rubber band with a knot in the middle...

Will this rubber band be able to fully stretch if the knot is present? Obviously, no.

Now imagine that rubber band is your muscle with a fascial restriction.

The same issue occurs and the more we try to manually stretch the muscle without correcting or removing the restriction the tighter we make the knot.

VIP Therapy's cornerstone of care specifically targets these restrictions.  Dr. Barney will manually remove them through a non-painful approach, using specialized treatment tools.

This process:

  • Decreases the inflammatory response

  • Promotes healing

  • Decreases pain

  • Improves joint mobility
